creston fire station no.43

The 6,600 SF essential service facility operates 24/7 and accommodates up to eight full-time fire personnel and four pieces of fire apparatus. Sitting on a challenging 2.7-acre parcel just north of town with extensive site concerns, the project required a design that was responsive to flood control, storm run-off and soil stabilization issues, and required on-site utilities for the facility in this remote rural area.

Energy conservation was an important goal of the County; measures were taken to incorporate continuous perimeter insulation at the exterior wall cladding system, deep overhangs for protection from the hot summer sun, and an innovative, highly efficient mechanical system.

Project completed while Candice Wong was the Public Safety Studio Manager with another firm. Candice was the Project Manager, as well as the County of SLO and CalFire's Project Advisor on the project.
