ADELAIDA WINERY

> People's Choice Award, American Institute of Architects Central Coast, 2016

As one of the first operating winery production facilities in Paso Robles, Adelaida Winery had outgrown their existing 10,000 SF facility. In addition to remodeling, updating, and expanding the production, the goal of the project was to introduce a new 9,000 SF event center and tasting room and 4,000 SF administrative office.

The primary challenge presented by the project was how to incorporate the existing industrial functions and spaces with the new hospitality component, while creating a new face for the winery with a welcoming presence. The new buildings and landscape took inspiration from the existing agrarian vernacular blended with contemporary details, resulting in a contemporary agricultural aesthetic which was then applied to the existing adjacent structures. This blend of old and new created a cohesive and functional campus and gave a fresh look to one of the oldest wineries in the region.
